I am a Lead Data Scientist at Farfetch in the customer marketing data science team since July 2021. Our team focuses on the development of artificial intelligence solutions providing insights into customers’ value, wants, preferences, and needs.

From 2019 to 2021, I was a Lead Data Scientist and Project Manager in the Advanced Analytics team at Roche where I designed and implemented distinct machine learning solutions providing business insights for data-driven problems, ranging from the analysis and forecasting of financial time series, to the automated recognition entities and their relationships from unstructured data.

From 2014 to 2018, I was a SystemsX.ch postdoctoral fellow in Biozentrum at the University of Basel, Switzerland, where I focused on integrating multi-omics datasets (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics) and using systems biology approaches to unravel diverse aspects of gene regulation in aging, immune response and cancer.

From 2009 to 2013, I was a PhD student in computational biology at the University of Minho and a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley under the supervision of in Miguel Rocha and Adam Arkin, respectively. Most of my graduate work focused on the development of experimental platforms and machine learning models to understand and engineer the control of gene expression in bacteria.

Before, I completed my 5-year bachelor in computer science and systems engineering (with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal in 2007.
